And here's a page that's totally unrelated to climbing, mountaineering, adventure or anything else my website
has to offer, because those things are only part of my life.   We'll just call this the '
life and times of a washed-up
adventurer'
.      Or , 'Bitter Reality - coming down from the mountain'.    Actually, life is good when you take
the time to notice.
This page kind of shows my interests, now and in the past.    It's been a long life.....

I have a pretty busy life and that alone keeps me away from the mountains and the ocean more than I like.    I
have to do something for a living: I'm a master carpenter and thirty-year construction professional and
consultant.     I'm an amateur photographic model with a great portfolio.
The photo shoots are fun.
Personal services?      Ask....I might do it, fun is a great motivator and so is money.
Outside of the outdoor adventure stuff I have a variety of interests.    I'm learning to play guitar, electric and
acoustic-electric, and my guitars are my prized possessions.    I've got a Yamaha keyboard which I picked up
mainly as a backup to my guitars, sitting there waiting to be used.
My cat Iris rules my place.

I like hotrods, muscle cars, have owned a few in the past.    Four wheel drive Toyotas are my favorite trucks
and I own an old 1985 regular cab Toyota 4WD with a straight front axle and locking hubs.    I've also got a
pretty much useless but fun old 1992 Mazda Miata MX-5 convertible, for hanging it out on hot sunny days.
The top is down on that thing eight months of the year.

I like fishing, a variety of music, days off and country western dancing with pretty ladies in old honkytonks.
I write, I like poetry, I'm very well read, articulate and up to date on world matters.    I'm a patron of the arts,
and regularly attend live stage theater, opera, and art galleries.     I usually manage to see the newest movies
at the theater when they first come out, because I can't stand watching videos; it's too much like watching TV.
I'm from Alberta, Canada, the Great White North. I've lived around California over five years and am now a
Permanent Resident living in Sacramento. I'm happily divorced with two perfect grownup daughters, no issues,
and a Made Guy in the Dutch Mafia -).

I've had a varied 'career' throughout my life, usually working at rough-and-ready outdoor jobs, including over
twenty-five years in construction as a carpenter and superintendent, and five years in Canada's oilpatch.    I
worked as a roughneck, motorhand
and derrickman on big iron drilling rigs in the northern oilfields of Alberta
and British Columbia. I know dirty, and I've seen more than my share of drilling leases, construction sites,
frozen wasteland,
sun dogs in a frozen sky, or bush and muskeg, thank you very much.    I like the sun now,
and the heat and the palm trees.....

Since I was a little boy, I've always been independent, and I think (and live) outside the box. It's made my life
difficult at times, but I'm an individual, not a lemming.   I've made my own track, faced my challenges and
stayed true to myself. I worked hard, raised a family and paid the bills, and if I had another crack at it all I'd
probably do
just about everything the same again.
